Murrells shortlisted for three Clio Modern Law Awards 2026 — and two of our team nominated for 30 Under 30

We’re pleased to share some good news from Murrells.

We’ve been shortlisted for three categories at the Clio Modern Law Awards 2026:

  • Boutique Law Firm of the Year (11+ Employees)
  • Company Culture
  • Operations Team of the Year

For a firm of our size — four partners, 23 people, based in Cornwall — being recognised across all three feels good. Particularly the Culture and Operations shortlistings, which reflect what we think makes this firm worth working at: real career progression, genuine investment in people, and a team that holds everything together quietly and capably. In a year where turnover grew 35%, our operations team of four managed a major technology migration, embedded our B Corp certification, and launched a culture committee that gives junior staff a real voice in how the firm runs. That’s worth celebrating.

Two of our team shortlisted for Cornwall Chamber 30 Under 30

We’re also pleased to share that two members of our team have been shortlisted for the Cornwall Chamber 30 Under 30.

Annalisa Marsay

Annalisa joined us in 2023 as a legal assistant — having previously worked as a delivery driver — and in under three years has progressed to trainee solicitor, passing SQE1 in the top quintile nationally. That progression tells part of the story. The rest is in what she does beyond her job description: streamlining processes in the employment team, organising soft-skills training for junior colleagues, becoming Secretary of the Cornwall Junior Lawyers Division and helping them win Regional JLD of the Year, mentoring a law student at Exeter, and volunteering with Hearts of Headland making care packages for chemotherapy patients. She simply sees what needs doing and does it.

Bethany Hoskings

Bethany qualified in September 2025, having earned a first-class law degree from the Open University — by distance learning, while working full time. She joined our corporate team and has already handled refinances, share exchanges and group reorganisations with a calm that belies her experience. In her first year she drove a live M&A webinar for Cornwall’s business community that generated real leads for the firm. Before law, she represented Cornwall across girls’ cricket age groups and trained in classical ballet for nearly two decades. She brings the same values to everything she does.

We’re proud of them both, and we’ll share more news as the awards progress.
